Last updated: draft for pilot launch
Draft, requires legal review. This document is a template prepared for UniLift's pilot. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must be reviewed and completed by the operator before public launch.
1. About UniLift
UniLift is a platform that lets verified students and staff of Malaysian universities arrange short rides with approved student and staff drivers on the same campus. These terms are an agreement between you and:
[operator legal name: set in Admin → Settings → Legal]. Contact: support@unilift.my.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be a current student or staff member of the campus you register for, and you must give accurate information.
- You sign in with Google or Apple. Keep your device secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- Access to booking or driving requires manual approval by our team. We may approve, reject, suspend or end any account at our discretion, for example for false information or unsafe conduct.
- You may belong to one active campus at a time and may change it in the app under the rules shown there.
3. Riders
- You propose a fare based on the suggested basic fare. A driver may accept it or counter. A ride is agreed only when you accept an offer. The accepted amount is the fare for that ride.
- Check the driver's photo, car and plate before you get in. Do not get in if they do not match.
- You pay the agreed fare in cash to the driver at the end of the trip. UniLift does not process payments.
- You may cancel a request for free before a driver is chosen. Repeated cancellations after a driver is on the way may lead to restrictions.
4. Drivers
- You must hold any licences, insurance and permissions required by law for the trips you offer. UniLift does not check or guarantee that you are legally permitted to carry passengers for a fare; that is your responsibility.
- Provide accurate car details and keep your car roadworthy and insured.
- You set your own counter-offers within the allowed range. UniLift charges no commission; you keep the whole agreed fare.
- Go online only when you are ready to accept rides. Your location is shared only while you are online or on a trip.
- Drive safely and lawfully, and treat riders with respect.
5. Cash and disputes
The driver confirms cash received in the app; the rider can confirm or report a problem. We may review disputes but cannot guarantee any particular outcome, and we do not collect or hold money.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use UniLift for anything unlawful, to harass or endanger others, to share another person's account, to submit false documents, or to interfere with the service. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
7. Safety
UniLift provides tools such as trip sharing and emergency numbers, but you remain responsible for your own safety. In an emergency, call 999 first.
8. Our role and liability
UniLift provides the technology that connects riders and drivers. Drivers are independent and not employees or agents of UniLift. To the maximum extent permitted by law, UniLift is not liable for loss or injury arising from rides arranged through the platform, or for interruptions of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Your content and data
We handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes and ending
We may update these terms or the service, and will notify you of material changes. You may stop using UniLift and delete your account at any time.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia have jurisdiction, unless the law gives you rights that cannot be waived.
